Match Date: Sat, Apr 29, 2017
Match Time: 20:00 local | 14:30 GMT
Cricket Stadium: Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot
Gujarat Lions: The Suresh Raina-led side have finally found the right combination, one where they don’t appear batting heavy. After their win against Royal Challengers, it’s unlikely they will make any changes to their line-up.
Probable XI: Ishan Kishan, Brendon McCullum, Suresh Raina (c), Aaron Finch, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Ravindra Jadeja, James Faulkner, Andrew Tye, Basil Thampi, Nathu Singh, Ankit Soni.
Mumbai Indians: After their loss against Rising Pune Supergiant, Mumbai have had four days off, giving them ample time to rejuvenate. Despite the loss, it’s highly unlikely there will be too many changes to the combination that has propelled them to the top of the table. Krunal Pandya should come in in place of Karn Sharma.
Probable XI: Parthiv Patel (wk), Jos Buttler, Nitish Rana, Rohit Sharma (c), Kieron Pollard, Krunal Pandya, Hardik Pandya, Harbhajan Singh, Mitchell McClenaghan, Mitchell Johnson, Jasprit Bumrah.
Two-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians have been on a roll after loosing their first match against Rising Pune Supergiant by seven wickets. They have won all their matches and are currently second in the points table. Now as they take on Gujarat Lions in match 16 of the ipl, MI will look to continue with their winning run and simultaneously aim to go on top of the table.
Gujarat Lions have now won three out of their eight matches and steadily climbed up from the bottom of the Indian Premier League 2017 points table. Their last win against Royal Challengers Bangalore was clinical. After bundling the opposition out for 134, they chased down the target with 37 balls to spare.
Having lost Dwayne Bravo for the entire season because of a hamstring injury, the win was crucial. Suresh Raina said at the presentation ceremony that it was the kind of performance that would boost the team’s confidence, and he was hopeful they could carry the momentum forward. He also acknowledged that the team had finally hit on the right combination, something that was missing in the first half of the tournament.
