RPS vs MI Head to Head Matches Records:-
As we all know that MI is playing IPL from the starting but RPS is new to IPL. Mumbai Indians (MI) is two times Champion. MI and RPS only faced each other head to head only two times. In the first match, RPS (Rising Pune Supergiants) won the match by 9 Wickets. But in the second match MI (Mumbai Indians) take its revenge of previous lost and won the match by 8 Wickets.
Who Will Win RPS vs MI, 2nd IPL 2017 Match – Mumbai Indians
Mumbai Indians (MI):
The team is led by Rohit Sharma. He would be opening the innings with Lendl Simmons. Lasith Malinga’s injury might mean would be tasked with leading the attack, especially considering Tim Southee has not played international cricket in over a month. The other decision Mumbai may need to make is decide between Kieron Pollard, who has just recovered from injury, and Corey Anderson, who has been out of form, in the XI. Harbhajan Singh will likely be their lead spinner. The two rising stars of Indian Cricket team i.e. Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah are expected to be in the playing XI.
Mitchell McClenaghan would be the opening bowler for Mumbai as Lasith Malinga’s is injured. The other option is Tim Southee, who has not played international cricket since over a month now. McClenaghan would be supported by the in-form Jasprit Bumrah. The carribean all-rounder Kieron Pollard has just recovered from the injury, thus he may be on bench while mumbai play with Corey Anderson (Again Anderson has been out of form). Harbhajan Singh will be the lead spinner.
Rising Pune Supergaints (RPS):
The new franchise team lead by MS Dhoni would depend on overseas players for batting. As they have 3 top batsman Pietersen, Du Plessis and Steven Smith all from 3 different countries. Rahane will open the innings but looks like they are short of an opener in the team. We may see Du Plessis open as well. Dhoni will play late on batting with the current line-up. The world No.1 T20 bowler Ravichandran Ashwin will lead the spin attack. Ashok Dinda and Ishant Sharma are expected to lead the pace bowling.
Both the teams have equal strengths. Mumbai are having a slight advantage as it is their home ground and 80% of the team has not changed from the last season of IPL. Pune on the other hand are a newly formed team, but we can never under estimate the captaincy of MS Dhoni. Supergaints would definitely target to mark their victory tomorrow as it would be their first impression.
Rising Pune Supergiant Predicted Playing XI
Steve Smith (C), Mayank Agarwal, Rajat Bhatia, MS Dhoni, Faf du plessis, Ben stokes, Usman Khawaja, Shardul Thakur, Ajinkya Rahane, Ishwar pandey, Ashok Dinda
Mumbai Indians Predicted Playing XI
Rohit Sharma (C), Jasprit Bumrah, Ledl Simmons, Harbhajan singh, Mitchell starc, Malinga, Hardik pandya, Parthiv Patel, Pollard, Ambati Rayadu, kunal pandya
With new captain Steve Smith at the helm and MS Dhoni playing without the captain’s tag, the Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) would be anxious about cross their first hurdle – Mumbai Indians – as they begin their campaign in this edition of the IPL on Thursday.
Dhoni had an eight-year stint at Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who were kicked out from the league for two years by the Supreme Court after the spot-fixing scandal. However, in their first season together last year, Dhoni and RPS looked like a couple forced to stay together.
Dhoni, who had never let CSK finish out of top-four in eight years, could manage only five wins from 14 games as RPSG’s skipper last season. They had finished seventh out of eight teams, a clear low for Dhoni.
Pune would do well to remember that in the opening game last season, each of their six bowlers took a wicket at least to restrict Mumbai to 121 for 8 before Ajinkya Rahane got the job done with an unbeaten 66.
Pune’s spin attack looks much better on paper with Adam Zampa, one of the best performers from last season, and Imran Tahir, the No.1 ranked white-ball bowler in the world currently, in their ranks. The seam department, though, is slightly thin but it is an opportunity for those in the ranks to make an impression.
Rahane and Rohit will have one eye on Champions Trophy selection, and there is no better way to make themselves count than a strong start in the last tournament before the team travels to England.
With so many subsets within the contest, there is a lot at stake and both teams would want to begin their respective campaigns with the right result.
