Who will win the match between Mumbai Indians vs Delhi Daredevils, IPL 2016, Match 47
We are in the back end of IPL 2016. Winning games will be crucial at this stage of the tournament. After all, even math plays a vital role in deciding the final four. Mumbai Indians will play Delhi Daredevils in match-47 of IPL 2016. It is a crucial game for both Mumbai Indians and Delhi Daredevils.
Mumbai Indians faltered against Kings XI Punjab in their previous game. MI will look to bounce back with a win. Delhi Daredevils will be upbeat after that win against in-form Sunrisers Hyderabad. It is a critical game for both MI and DD as these teams look to cement their position in the playoffs.
Venue: ACA-VDCA Stadium, Visakhapatnam
Mumbai Indians is struggling to find a reliable opening pair. MI tried Parthiv Patel, Jos Buttler, and even Unmukt Chand. The team still has to settle down with one solid partner with Rohit Sharma.
MI’s captain Rohit Sharma will be key against DD. He will look to score runs upfront and set the game for Mumbai’s middle order. He even features in the highest run-scorers chart. Parthiv Patel will likely make a comeback to the squad. Ambati Rayudu had a forgetful innings in the last game. He will look to move beyond that and be amongst the runs once again.
Jos Buttler will be eager to be amongst the runs. He has been inconsistent so far. Big man Kieron Pollard will bat in the lower middle order. He can smash almost every ball out of the park. Krunal Pandya has been decent with the bat and will look to score some runs against Delhi Daredevils.
In the bowling department, MI has Mitchell McClenaghan. He has been in superb form and has seventeen wickets to his name. Southee is finding swing in the opening overs and will look to cause some problems upfront. Indian youngster Jasprit Bumrah will look to come back strong against DD.
If Delhi Daredevils bats first
Predicted score: 150 and above.
Quinton de Kock has been in tremendous form in IPL 2016. If it’s de Kock’s day, then Mumbai can wave the match goodbye. Delhi’s youngsters were excellent against SRH. Mind you, SRH has one of the best bowling attacks of the tournament. Karun Nair and Sanju Samson will look to score some quick runs. These players can also accelerate the score in a matter of moments. A huge plus for Delhi Daredevils.
It has been a trend for the Mumbai-based franchise to get a slow start and pick up momentum later towards the tournament; but this time, it looks like it’s too late to change things to get through to the Playoffs. The team has put up individual performances but failed to perform as a cohesive unit. Their bowling attack boasts of Mitchell McClenaghan, Jasprit Bumrah, Harbhajan Singh, Tim Southee. However, the performance has not been up to the mark. One thing that has ruined the sharp attack is their poor fielding. On the contrary, captain Rohit Sharma has been terrific on the field, throwing himself on the ball every time it is in the same frame as him.
The team’s batting also looks to be attractive enough but that too failed to put up winning performances. The skipper himself had a brilliant time in limited-over format in Australia and is doing the same for the team with his personal score in the format being 428 so far. However, he failed to deliver equally in all the matches. The only MI batter who has been consistent with the willow is Ambati Rayudu, who has been terrifically anchoring the innings. Team’s middle order looks better than its top, with Jos Buttler, Kieron Pollard and Krunal Pandya contributing good runs. Harhajan Singh is another name that the team looks at for last-minute hitting. Coming from a defeat, it will be a challenge for them to get back to winning ways and change the scenario.
DD skipper Zaheer Khan has been phenomenal, with both performance and captaincy. Zaheer built up the team spirit well by utilising his limited resources in batting and bowling very skilfully. The team, though has gone through ups and downs in the tournament, has still managed to maintain itself among the top four.
Sam Billings is in good nick. He will provide much-needed middle order stability. Chris Morris has been indispensable to Delhi Daredevils this season. He has come well with both the bat and the ball. He can take the game away from any team in the final overs. He is consistent with his yorkers in the death overs. To take on MI’s big man Kieron Pollard, Delhi Daredevils has Carlos Brathwaite. He can destroy any bowling line-up. He only made the bench in the game against SRH, though.
Zaheer Khan was rested for the previous game. He will likely make a comeback and will lead the bowling attack with Mohammed Shami. Duminy will likely make the bench for this game. In the spin department, Amit Mishra has been excellent for Delhi Daredevils. He too features in the top-10 wicket-takers chart.
